I remember being terrified as I hid under my oak school desk with my hands wrapped around my head. Tornado warning sirens and even preparedness drills in my midwestern school as a kindergarten girl left a deep imprint in my soul. And those were just drills… warnings. This storm was Oh. So. Real. Unthinkable. Unimaginable. And, unbearable for me to sit back and not do anything.
Let this tragedy be an awakening in our own lives to the call to really “love others as we love ourselves.” I am blessed to be a part of a community of bloggers who desire to share that love. My prayers are with all those affected by this unthinkable tragedy, and those who desire to make a difference in its monstrous wake, including the operation at Samaritan’s Purse. We have supported their Operation Christmas Child for years, and in my opinion, Franklin Graham, founder of Samaritan’s Purse and son of the great evangelist Billy Graham, should be running for President next term. See below for more details, and please keep Oklahoma, the families of the lost, and the hearts of those who survived, in your prayers. Let this be a call to action for you to love others through your deeds. Give, pray or go. But, do. And, leave your thoughts in the comments below.
The devastation in the United State’s Midwest region breaks our hearts, and the Inspired Bloggers Network desires to use our influence and the power of our blogs to make a difference.
How Can We Help?
Volunteer
One of the charities we are choosing to feature, Samaritan’s Purse, is currently enlisting volunteers. So, if you are close to the areas affected, please visit the Samaritan’s Purse website to see how you can serve those in need.
“Our prayers are with all of those who are suffering because of this massive storm. We are going to stand by them and do everything we can to help them recover physically, emotionally and spiritually.” – Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham
Volunteers are already in action and more help is needed. Please consider donating your time to Samaritan’s Purse and if you are not available to serve physically, keep those who are working in your prayers.
Contribute
If you are Inspired to Help, please make a donation to either Samaritan’s Purse or the American Red Cross to support their relief efforts in Texas and Oklahoma and help us track our impact by marking the amount you donated in the form below.
